About me: Author of Metamancer https://zmancy.com/metamancer/ Audio on Audible: https://bit.ly/Metmancer_A_US I wear lots of hats. These hats include: Reader, Author, Software Consultant, Open Source Software Advocate, Go Player, Gamer, Race Car Driver, Race Car Builder, and Student Pilot. Get me started talking about any of these things at your own risk :)
What makes me love a book? I like a well-crafted story without illogical slip-ups, vivid setting, good characters, and an entertaining plot. I'm partial to anything with interesting magic systems, and wizards in general (shocking, I know!). Copy editing and proofreading are my weaknesses, so if I'm noticing editing mistakes, the editor is in real trouble... I rate books based on how well they do what they seem to be trying to do, and I consider it my job to pick a book that's doing something I want to read. So, unless the cover or marketing is misleading, my enjoyment is only a minor factor in any review. Note: Since becoming an author, I've realized that there's a huge gap between the reality of Amazon star ratings
