This book was not that interesting in my humble opinion. It didn't brought anything about the game itself. Only pictures of the miniatures. No insight on the story or plot. Waste of money

Adrian Cole returns to Dream Lords world series, probably best appreciated if you've read the trilogy which I've not. But i've got some of his other work published by DMR and one of his novels as investigador vs cosmic horrors

Brian K Love - Hoskin's War is a story set in the revolution war and a fight against Iroquois tribe and against them as well - another author I read some stories via DMR.

Karl Gallagher wove (is that a word) an excellent tale that for some reason I read it , thinking about Bretonnia from warhammer fantasy.
A Squire must do what he must to avenge his master and teach the peasants to fight. Let me search what more he has written

The Water Walks Tonight is about vikings and the evils that lurk within themselves and not... draugr (undead)

Shark Fighter I was not invested and didn't enjoy as much....

I didn't read Hernstrom story because I have his colletion to be read via DMR... but from what I've read from him - should be aweso...

This was the third novel on the series and last to be publish. Don't know if the writer will continue but I would hope so - unfortunately I didn't enjoy that much - this one.

Basically the other two novels, we were on different space worlds BUT the worlds could be connected.
Here, we are on our earth (or at least version) and something attack humanity from another dimension. At first it was a survival story which was interesting then it turn into a full battle stuff.

My main grip was with the story and characters - first of all, there is too much convenience, deus-ex machina situations and such. Then we've got the MC which is all powerful, there seems to be no risk, even when there is. As previous novels, the MC is a kid/child that is far smarter than grown military man. Makes no sense...

Oh well, I want to continue to read more tales on this world.

Ah this was awesome...
How people don't know about this? Damn 2 rating? WHY?
So what is this abouT?

Do you know of Red Sonja? Yes? That's for children.
Imagine a woman so violent that she just wants to kill and take man as slaves, killing the rest. As a Viking this was a normal behaviour (although the sexes were reversed). Now the Pict's are being invaded by this awful woman and her gang and so she cohorts with dark fiends to thwart Belladonna. From this moment , we see the powers of the picts and the vikings while getting to know more about Belladona and almost immortal being. She is stab, cut, eaten, raped (almost - after all she is wonder-woman), a wolverine slash her, they cut her throat and so on... nothing kills her. The reason? We don't know. It's because the author wants it.

Well, is this for everyone? No. OF course not.
It's violent and grim as fuck.
Do you enjoy sex? Do you like to see woman naked (but more powerful than men? OK this is for you.<...

AS you may know I Lovecraftian horror. It's one of my favorite types of horror so this month I try to read a couple of stories with that premise... This one, I've had for one year and I Thought it was time to read it. Short, under 200 pages so easy for a two day read or so.

This was a bit more focus on action that usually Lovecraftian tales are... In this tale we follow a couple of characters as they are dealing with the invasion of aquatic beings that are linked to a eldritch horror god from beyond the seas.

For those who expected something grandiose - well it's not here. This is run, hide, try to destroy the evil being - never really dwelling much on the lore- which is my favorite part of Lovecraftian tales BUT to be honest it felt good.

One thing that I expect from Lovecraftian horror is the ending - Lovecraftian tales to me, must be about hardships and usually ends with the demise or crazyness of our main character(s).

So in this tale we follow a olde...

These are two books in one - and I don't mean a story within a story. I mean quite literally two novels combine in one book. Well novellas to be honest.

You got Cradle of the Dead & Dark Waves. The first written by Roger Jackson whilst the second was done by Simon Kearns. The first word that comes to my mind reviewing this is ... "meh". The second is "haunted houses".

I started with Cradle of the Dead where we follow a bunch of thugs/mafia kind of people who are bringing a person to a house where they usually torture and kill it. It's a old house/hospital where strange and awful things happen and tonight for all nights is coming to get them. It's a house coming to life kind of situation and wanting to be free. It's a a house that felt horror in itself and materialized. There is a kind of odd stuff, these are thugs use to kill and beat people so you are expected to feel something from them but it's hard to connect. All the five stars present here are from other author...

I enjoy but I also think there was a hint of political stuff here which made me cringe every couple of chapters.

First of all , this is a fast pace revenge story about a man trying to avenge his sister's death. We've got three characters, first the man who is visiting is sister saw her killed and butchered, he also finds his young teen niece (of eleven) which was abused by the man (why he didn't kill her as well?). Then we have a new-freed slave which is the best friend of our main protagonist, and how we know it? Because the main character (Garrett) says so to other people.. Why someone would introduce a black person to other people, like
- "...me and my real good friend.."
- "... is he the most loyal and trusting man yo'll ever meet..."
- "...My name is Garrett Walkinshaw. This here's my best friend in all the world, Franklin."
Wtf? Who talks like this? It's like he is compensating, no?

This and the part that ALL White Male Characters are racist All , exce...

Well, I bought this book and started reading right away. The reason is that I enjoy lovecraftian tales and since this was based on Cthulhu Wars I started to read and thought that this makes no sense being labed as Cthulhu Wars.

Cthulhu Wars is a game where 2 or more players battle for victory. Each faction has it's own weakness and strengths. I knew this could not be done since it would be impossible to make a book on Cthulhu perspective or other any other Old Ones... Well it could be done via the cultists but it would be hard. What I found was 9 tales, each one with 3/5 pages. Each page focused on one Faction available in Cthulhu Wars (interesting none was about Cthulhu). Each one is non-connected to the other.

In the other tale takes almost 300 pages and we follow three survivors in a post-apocalytic environment where several Old Ones come to be... Unfortunately the author doesn't spent that much time in this focusing on our 3 protagonists. There are a couple of chapte...

Nice little story. First of all I must remind myself that this was written in 1930 and this short story tell us of a world where everyone was connected to "Adventures" that supposedly was a way of experience new emotions. Because of this new thing called Radio wars were made obselete then came the machines and man stop working. Then almost everything that makes us human dissapear men try new things... this new thing was the virtual world.

I advice all to read. It's quite short with only 30 pages. It deals with Scientific Breakthroughs, scientific experiments that will be used in the wrong way (atomic energy anyone?) and the definition of what qualifies a being as Human. Is AI so good? What would happen to humankind?

Go read it. There are some references to white people being superior (in the 30's this was a normal assumption) so be prepared. I don't critizise it because it's from that time... It ancient greece it was normal sex with teenagers and boys... Am I to criticize it? Different times... different views.

It's free and avaiable on Wikisource.

Review to come... I can't advice to anyone. Sorry. Other Christopher novels I read are a thousand times better than this one... one week of my life to read 159 pages. That's how hard it was to me... painful but I finish...

Second edit:
What can I say about this book? It's worthless in my opinion. I read three more books of the author and nothing compares to it. Maybe it's because this was one of the first he written, I don't know. The book itself doesn't have a good flowing. Things just happened in the backstage. Most of them without the direct influence of the main character.

A cientist is going to substitute another cientist of have dissapear. That scientist is on something that could change the power balance of some nation. With the help of a female scientst he is embroiled into turmoil as A, B and C factions wants to enlist him.

The ending is quite bad as the rest of the plot. I think it was one of the most uninteresting books I had the displeasure to rea...
