Culture of Masks

People go through life wearing many different masks; it's simply who we are. Many great authors, for example, have taken on the task of wearing an incredible number of masks to create legendary stories that have captivated us. And then we have whole cultures that embrace physical masks for all they represent, becoming sources of art, expression and meaning. This particular concept needs to be unmasked.

Add books you've read that feature a primary character wearing a mask as part of their identity or a culture where masks play a significant role in their beliefs, traditions, art, or other practices (hats, helmets, makeup, and medical/safety gear don't count).
